Steve Beren on the Re-election of President Obama in 2012
A Decision Americans Will Come to "Lament and Condemn" - November 7, 2012
From the Federalist Papers #63: "[T]here are particular moments in public affairs when the people, stimulated by some irregular passion, or some illicit advantage, or misled by the artful misrepresentations of interested men, may call for measures which they themselves will afterwards be the most ready to lament and condemn. In these critical moments, how salutary will be the interference of some temperate and respectable body of citizens, in order to check the misguided career, and to suspend the blow meditated by the people against themselves, until reason, justice, and truth can regain their authority over the public mind?"
The second term of President Obama will be even more harmful to this nation than his first term. He may very well have the opportunity to nominate one or two members of the Supreme Court. Obamacare will likely go into effect in 2014. Our debt and deficit will continue to grow, imposing on the citizens - and the next generation - a heavy burden of very high taxation. Instead of economic growth, there will be increased unemployment, higher fuel prices, and even more devastation of small business. American families will suffer. The young people - including my nieces and nephews - will suffer greatly and needlessly.
President Obama will double down on his foreign policy of apology, weakness, retreat, appeasement, decline, and defeat. He lacks an understanding of the war being waged against America by Islamic fascism, and lacks a victory strategy to defeat that war. He will continue to slash military spending and weaken our national security.
In the coming days and weeks, I will offer my analysis of the presidential, congressional, and statewide elections. Now more than ever, the fight for liberty is crucial. Now more than ever, defenders of liberty - conservatives, the Tea Party movement, Republicans, prolife activists, opponents of Islamic fascism - must stand by our principles. Now more than ever, we must not back down. With clear eyes and a clear conscience, we must advocate, promote, and fight for the U.S. Constitution, for freedom, for liberty, for America.
